1. Club ownership
1.1 The club is a non-profit making organisation owned by all members equally with no members having greater or lesser rights due to their position within the club.
2. Club members
2.1 Anyone is entitled to apply for membership, and membership is conferred upon payment of the membership fee. The membership free is non-refundable.
2.2 Membership is for the period of one calendar year running from 1 January to 31 December, after which members are required to renew their membership, with the appropriate fee.
2.2.1 The membership fee for 2009 onwards shall be £10.
2.3 Those attending meetings are required to treat each other with respect and refrain from abusive or violent language and behaviour.
2.4 Committee members have the authority to ask any member or non-member failing to comply with 2.3 to leave a club meeting.
2.5 The committee, on a majority vote, has the authority to withdraw membership from a member who commits a serious or repeated breach of club rules.
2.6 A committee member who is found to be in breach of behavior protocols may be asked to step down from the committee, on a majority vote of the remaining committee members.
3. Meetings
3.1 The club will endeavor to meet on average once a fortnight.
3.1.1 The club will trial weekly meetings for the first three months of 2009.
3.2 Club meetings are to both members and general public, although the club reserves the right to refuse admission.
3.3 An entrance fee will be charged for club meetings to cover costs incurred by the meeting. Club members pay a reduced entrance fee.
3.4 For membership year 2009 onwards, the entrance fee shall be £4 for non-members and £3 for members.
3.5 At the end of March 2009, the committee shall meet to decide whether weekly meetings shall continue. If the committee decides by majority vote to revert to bi-weekly meetings, members shall have half their membership fee refunded.
3.6 The minimum age at which anyone may attend any meeting shall be 14 years of age.
4. Annual General Meeting (AGM)
4.1 An Annual General Meeting will be held once each year at the first public meeting of the year.
4.2 The Annual General Meeting shall receive reports from the outgoing committee, elect the committee for the coming year and vote on any proposed rules changes.
5. The committee
5.1 The committee is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of the club.
5.2 Committee members will endeavour to do what is required of them, and any other duties that they volunteer themselves for.
5.3 Committee positions are: Chief Muppet, Money Muppet and Secret Muppet.
5.3.1 The committee has the right to expand itself to include as many Other Muppets as it deems neccessary.
5.4 The committee has the right to fill vacant posts as required which must be ratified at the next public meeting.
6. Money management
6.1 All spending by the committee must go through Money Muppet, who makes sure the club stays within its financial limits.
6.2 Any fully paid up member is entitled to request to see any of the clubs financial records after applying in writing and giving four weeks notice.
7. Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)
7.1 Any petition of five fully paid up members can call an extraordinary general meeting, which will be held at the next available public meeting. The committee shall endeavor to inform other members of this meeting.
8. Laser pointers
8.1 Think about what you point at, remember the beam will carry across the room and could affect people at other tables.
8.2
Never point the beam at people and in particular the face or eyes.
8.3
Your pointer must have an on/off switch where action by the user is required to emit laser light (press to use). Never misuse this; for example by wedging a pointer under a heavy book so it continuously marks a line on a table.
8.4
If you do get a class 2 laser in the eye your natural blink reaction will protect you (although you may still experience a bright flash, after images, or even a temporary loss of vision in the affected eye). These effects wear off quickly. To do damage you need to stare into a class 2 laser for an extended period, obviously do not do this!
8.5
Members with minors are responsible for the behaviour of those minors. If minors are using a laser pointer they must be supervised by an adult at all times.
8.6 A minor shall be any person less than 18 years of age. |
