SMBBL Season 2 - 2013 - Signups and Schedule

Post by riddles » Wed Dec 19, 2012 11:42 am

So so so so. The league had good participation this year and even though the Sin Diablo Chargers ran away with the league, they couldn't back it up with play-off wins and the unfancied Lustria Lightweights sauntered away into the jungle with the trophy.

Which brings us to...Year 2!

So, rules first.
We will be using the living rulebook - latest version on the GW website for free download.
Special Play cards are NOT being used
The holder of the SMBBL trophy gets an additional re-roll that counts towards their TV
Spiralling expenses are in play

As before, there will be no scheduling, just get games in where you can.

Teams Returning from 2012
You can continue to play your teams from 2012. HOWEVER, you can only play other existing teams UNTIL a new team in the league (i.e. someone that starts from scratch) reaches a TV that is within 100,000 of yours. After that, all bets are off.

New Teams
New teams will start with 1,100,000 gold pieces to spend. However, you cannot buy skills with this money - just the usual re-rolls, players, fan factor etc.
The additional startup money from last year is aimed at accelerating those teams so people with existing teams aren't hanging round playing each other for too long.

YOU MAY ONLY HAVE 1 TEAM ENTERED IN THE LEAGUE. IF, AT ANY POINT, YOU WISH TO START A NEW TEAM, YOUR OLD TEAM NEEDS TO BE RETIRED. IF YOU WISH TO CONTINUE PLAYING YOUR TEAM FROM 2012, PLEASE STATE IT IN THIS THREAD ALONG WITH YOUR CURRENT TV.

Dates
Break/off-season/Signups - December to January 31st
First Regular Season Game - February 12th
Play-offs Start - October 8th
SMBBL Final - December 3rd

Sign-Ups;
1. infernalcaretaker - Lustria Lightweights (Lizardmen) - TV = 1,370,000 (able to play fresh teams once one reaches 1,260,000)
2. psiclops - Sin Diablo Chargers (Necromantic) - TV = 1,360,000 (able to play fresh teams once one reaches 1,260,000)
3. riddles - Galadriem Cowboys (High Elf) - New Team
4. humakt - Grumpy Gits (Dwarf) - New Team
5. chilledenuff - Blue Moon Bludgeons (Goblin) - New Team
6. Ianw - Caught In Flux (Chaos) - TV - 1,230,000 (able to play fresh teams once one reaches 1,130,000)
7. Porrter - Mighty Donut Eaters (Halflings) - TV - 1,200,000 (able to play straightaway)
8. Daveoj - Nobblarz Nutjobz (Ogres) - New Team
9. Paul - (Orcs) - New Team
10. Tranquil_rage - (Skaven) - New Team (using tyranids as proxy)
11. Jayjay - Naggaroth Nightwings (Dark Elves) - New Team
12.
etc.

As a final note, please don't start any new team threads until Poi has had a chance to lock the SMBBL2012 threads.

I shall be signing up with a new team. It will be dwarfs as I already have this team painted. So you can put down the Grump Gits.

Also for next season I was thinking of getting a new pitch and throw sticks from http://www.ff-fields.com/. I assume they are the same size as they have been used by NAF according to some research online. Any thoughts?

Sin Diablo Chargers (Necromantic) TV = 1360 or 1350 (if I drop to 6FF from 7FF, we forgot to roll)

2 notes regarding those pitches - not seen before, but just on looking at the site - having the dug-outs both on one side is inconvenient, especially for remembering to move the turn marker, unless the game is played with the players sitting end to end. Also, some of them (not the Dorf one though) have the 1-8 markers for bouncing incorrectly placed, which is annoying. Also, I can't find the price anywhere !

1 Question - would existing teams be able to voluntarily drop Fan Factor, Cheerleaders, Assistant Coaches, Re-rolls &/or Players (to a minimum of 11) in order to match up earlier if it's taking too long for teams to catch up ? I would assume (and recommend) that no gold refunds would be received for this voluntary loss.

You may drop players, rerolls, fan factor, coaches or the apothecary to trim your team value. No refunds or it will get silly.

The pitches look good but there's no prices?

I emailed them about the prices and they replied

'Prices for standard fieldsare €35 for the rolable version and €45 for the 6 pieces hard version

throw meter price is €4,50

to order them just send us an email and we'll calculate your total including the shipping cost'

So thats £28.50 for a rolled one, £36.66 for a hard board one and £3.67 for a measure stick.

Not horrendous. The internet seems universally positive about them.

I found the prices for customised ones. They are quite a bit more expensive

Quote:
"The logo size should be 20x20 cm at 150 dpi, if you have it on vector or
transparent background it would be great

Based on your request yourfield should be a customization level 1 (check
the list at the bottom)
this means that the final price of your field should be €60

here's a list that should help you to calculate the cost of
custom field,

Standard field in rollable version cost €35
Standard field in 6 pieces hard version cost €45

Oversize extra cost € 18

Customization price list (to add to the basic field price):

Customization level 1 €15:
-Change the logo on the centerfield
-Change the endzone colours and place team name on it
-Change the reroll/turn marker colors
-Change the logo at the center of the scatter template

Customization level 2 €25:
All the change listed above plus
-Change some details on the bench
-mix elements from different standard fields (like the bench
from a field placed on another one)

Customization level 3 €35
All the change listed above plus
- Creation of some dedicated elements (Bench, ground, scatter
template)
- Layout change (like removing the weather and kick-off table)

Fully customization €60
Creation of a full custom field

Team/events logo creation €40/80 depends on logo complexity

Beach bowl field €20

Street Bowl field €25

Throw o meter €4,50

Custom throw o meter € 5,50 (min 30 pieces)

Shipping cost may vary upon the number of fields you're going to order, we
don't have a free shipping policy but if you are going to place an order
big enough you'll the right to get some free stuff

If you need any more info please contact us
Thx
Alex - FF-Fields"

Interesting that they have the kick off table and weather table on the pitches. very useful.

aaaaand there goes the idea of me changing the rulebook to encourage more fouling by offering SPP for casualties caused by a foul.

Right out the window les.

it encourages bashy teams over agility temas because bashy teams are more likely to foul. add to the fact that it's so easy to get sent off and unlikely that you'll do damage...i had to bully dave into a foul last night. most disappointing.

no, i shall leave the rules as they are. they're like that for a reason.

I will, however, have a sneaky git dirty player elf as my "armour technician"
