This should probably replace my Consolidated V3 thread. But some of the summaries are a *bit* misleading. So here goes:

MOVING THROUGH GAPS: This is not true for infantry teams who may pass through a 1/4" gap, but must still of course be able to be fully placed. So think a small gap between buildings or something.
LEAVING THE BATTLEFIELD: This does not apply to teams leaving from table edges in your deployment zone OR table edges where your reserves arrive
OVERLOADED: They still also bog on a 1 or a 2 in regular difficult
UNRELIABLE: Bog down when double timing, but nothing else (ie no "rolling a 1 when trying to unbog")
BUNKER BUSTERS AGAINST TANKS: This is really misleading. The rule is only for BUNKER BUSTERS THAT MOVED!
PASSENGERS IN TRANSPORTS: When an unarmored transport is hit everyone inside is also hit and saves on a 5+. If everyone inside dies but the transport lives, the transport goes to the rear. If any unarmored transports in a platoon are destroyed, all of the remaining transports go to the rear after the infantry immediately dismounts

Everything else seems to be on the level but I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Not sure what I think of the revised rules for assault. I'm going to need a rulebook to wrap my head around the changes there. Looks like it's easier to get tanks now but harder to get into assault. As I say, need to see v3 rulebook I think

Defensive fire vs tanks is now good with the "bail 2 vehicles to abort the assault" rule.
AT guns also have a bit of whallop now they can fire at side armour during an assault.
Defensive fire has been reduced to an 8" bubble.
It is easier to get more teams into assault.

All plus points for an assault heavy Infantry force IMHO.

I'm on the fence. It was crazy hard for my commandos to hurt tanks before so this is good. However the motivation test to assault tanks could upset the applecart somewhat.
As it's now Platoon vs Platoon as opposed to Team vs Team it will affect how you assault as well. No longer engaging a whole battleline but only one platoon could also prove difficult. Smoke is no longer the huge help that it was before

Teams still roll to hit teams... I'm not sure I understand you...

Hey guys, you may remember me as being very into FoW :)

I also haven't been down in yonks because:
A. I have got a 3 month old son who takes up a lot of my time at the moment!
B. There are a couple of guys nearby who play FoW in their garage every Tuesdays.

I'm going to see what I can sort out so I can get back down to see you Muppets!

My take on the new rules is that they are a huge step towards eliminating gaminess and generally creating a more beleivable game system. Highlights for me include:
> No more independent daisy chains
> Simplified defensive fire interaction which is far easier for new players to get their head around (the old 4" suck in platoons caused endless confusion)
> Goliaths/Borgwards aren't hideously broken
> Addressing IINO (infantry in name only) by limiting tanks deployed on table at the start of the game
> Reserves now always show up when rolling 3 or more dice - recently I went through a run of games and failed 42 reserve dice on the trott, that was quite remarkable and also rather annoying!!! :)
> Transports drastically increased in utility
> MONSTER artillery (the new US/Brit rules are insane)

Anyway yeah it looks really good.
