From random rumour and fear mongering thread on the BF forum...

1. Aircraft now range in automaticallly on any target in the open. But they only get one chance to range in, not three. Also, only one aircraft model is used, regardless of how may planes are coming. They will be releasing new aircraft as single models. All AA ranges are increased by 6".

2. Gun-teams that are Gone to Ground benefit from a 3+ save instead of the normal 5+ save. This is a dramatic difference for HMG's and Anti-tank Guns.

3. One-man Turret tanks (specifically French tanks) now benefit from being able to move and shoot with a +1 modifier. In V2 they could not move and shoot in the same turn.

4. Teams with with movement classification of Jeep or Motorcylce now move 24" on roads. Remember that in the desert all open terrain is considered hard packed sand (road). So SaS Jeeps move 24".

5. Teams with with movement classification of Wheeled or Half-track now move 18" on roads. Remember that in the desert all open terrain is considered hard packed sand (road). So most British and German armored cars move as Wheeled so they move 18".

6. Tanks assaults can be stopped if 2 or more vehicles are bailed or destroyed by Defensive Fire (this number is increased for Russians using the Quality of Quantity rule).

7. Flame throwers are toned down when used against tanks, preventing defensive fire if they hit, and bailing out tanks if they pass their FP test.

8. NO MORE DAISY CHAINS!

And this...

1) Transports - noted improvements to transports and ability to move troops while under fire. No details.

2) Mortars - all mortars will get direct fire.

3) HBG - while nothing super specific, he did mention 105s and larger getting HBG by default.

4) "In Name Only" - did clarify that the rule targets reserves. Mech gets 2 fully armored platoons on the table, infantry 1 and fortified lists get zero.

5) Wheeled - movement for wheeled units across open terrain has been moved to 12".

6) Terrain - clarification to terrain with example given "corn is like trees". No details.

7) Hit Allocation - changes to turret facing rule. If you hit side armor and turret is facing the shot, there is a chance the hit will go against front armor. No specific details, but inference is that there is another roll.

8) MG Infantry Teams - RoF 2 when pinned down.

9) Flamethrowers - FP needed to bail armor, cannot destroy.

10) Gun Saves - If gun is GtG, gun gets infantry save.

11) Assaults - significant changes to the rules. Thought / theme was to "get rid of gotchas." Who shoots in DF and who participates in the assault will be determined by "bubbles". No details on the range of the bubbles. He did mention if an armored platoon gets 2 "effective" hits (bail or destroyed), the assault is stopped. Also mentioned that a gun team that survives the first round and is base to base can fire again (at side armor) in the counter assault.

12) Planes - targets in the open are auto-range in. Targets in cover give the plane a single range in attempt.

13) Missions - 5 new missions, brings the total to 12. There is also a new random mission generator.

14) Index - Mike was very specific in mentioning the index. He thought it was very detailed.

15) Table of Contents - redone and added a sub section of the ToC at the beginning of each section. He believes it will be much easier to find the rules in the new book.

For those that don't want to click links or log in to the BF forums...

The new WI has just dropped on my mat - 15 pages dedicated to the new rules.

Don't have a lot of time - so here a very quick run down. Apologies for brevity.

Not one book but 3 - split into separate rules 308 pages, Forces 100 pages and Hobbies 40 pages books
All wheeled vehicles + Half tracks travel 1.5 x CC on roads
Portee teams with gun shields - now require FP test to destroy from "front"
Individual teams can now double - rest of team unaffected if not shot at
Doubling teams can turn to avoid rough terrain or enemy
Empty transports sent to rear can return
Assaults - def fire from teams within 8" plus changes to who fights (max teams contacted) and what happens at the end
Changes to Recce - not detailed but disengage from assault, arty and compulsory if shot removed
Missions - all teams can start gone to ground
Dig in whilst GTG
Nice big and clear terrain table listing effects - Ground condition (e.g. Dificult), concealment and bullet proof cover
Moving bunker busters cannot targetmoving vehicles
ROF of moving/pinned down is now 1/2 full ROF (not sure if round up or down)
Improved saves for recce softskins (no detail)
Ignore transport casualties
Forces book contains 13 core Intelligence Briefings for LW Europe (with full orbat diagrams as per a standard army list) so maybe this is in effect your plain manilla lists
Big index
Edit - sorry also 3+ save got GTG gun teams

No doubt there will be more in the book but 2 items not there noted were -
- no change to aircraft mentioned
No change to Goliaths + demo vehicles noted

No doubt missed some but got to fly - work regrettably calls!

The page in WI has the page from the rules.

"Before moving a platoon, you may place all of its Transports teams (other than those that have been Destroyed) that have been Sent to the Rear or did not deploy on the table, back on the table.
The Transport teams must be placed within 4"/10cm of a team from their platoon, and may not be:
* within 16"/40cm of an enemy team within Line of Sight, unless Concealed by Terrain from it, or
* within 4"/10cm of an enemy team, or
* within 8"/20cm of an enemy Recce team that is in Line of Sight (apart from Recce teams that are Bogged Down, Bailed Out, or moved at the Double)."

Now had chance to have a better scan of the pages and noticed a couple of points:-

There is a copy of the Firing summary page which carries a table to confirm new conversion rate for ROF when moving. 1-3 = 1, 4-5 = 2, 6+ = 3

You will not get the forces and hobby sections with the mini. You may have noted the mini is 296 pages whilst the full book is 448 in total. Also the MRB is hardback and the other two softback.

There is an add for the Free mini rule book which reiterates taking v2 hardback rule book into LGS etc. But also says "If you are unable to get to a store contact us through our website and we will sort it out for you"

Forces book - tank, mech and infantry lists for US, GB, USSR & Germany late war plus arsenals giving vehicle and weapon stats.

9+ arty for devastationg bombardment

Smoke rules simplified (no detail)

Guns can fire FULL ROF or Bombardments after unlimbering (so what happens to the RHA bonus ability? :blink

I believe everything is already here, bar a scenario which we haven't seen yet.

You need to pitch up with a fully painted 600 point force, and then play some games! The scenario will be announced on the night. Simples.

I may record results...
