Flames of War: Operation Escalation - Rules and Dates

Flames of War - Operation Escalation

Starting in March there will begin a year long escalation campaign for Flames of War.

We will start with fully painted 600point forces and finish the year with fully painted 1800 point forces. There will be 4 club nights throughout the year when we meet up, play a game with our newly painted toys, take some photos and generally have a spot of fun.

The campaign's length is intentional. We didn't want to infringe on other games and campaigns you may be involved in at the club. After all wargaming is a busy hobby, always new shiny things to buy, paint and play with. More importantly the length of the campaign should allow you time to get your army's reinforcements painted in between games.

The basics... We will be playing Late War, 3rd edition (due out in February, free mini rulebooks are available from BF if you own the 2nd edition hardback).

The escalation rules are simple... You must stick with the same nationality for the whole campaign but the specific army you field can change from game to game (just so long as it is all painted). It is the spirit of the campaign that players pick an unpainted army to start the campaign with but not a requirement. If you just want to play games with your army that is already painted we won't stop you.

Game 1 - March 27th
600 point forces, fully painted.
Only one combat platoon needs to be taken in this game.
Scenario TBA

Game 2 - June 26th
1000 point forces plus one objective, fully painted.
Scenario TBA

Game 3 - September 25th
1400 point forces, fully painted.
Scenario TBA

Game 4 - Tuesday 11th December.
1800 point forces plus two objectives, fully painted.
Scenario TBA

See you on the battlefield gentlemen.

Go well,

Dave R.

v3 will be out by then. Will this use it? My ebay 2nd edition hardback has arrived, ready and waiting for its sticker.

Early, Mid or Late War?

Great news should be able to get Game 1 and 4 in during the year, now what army to take?

I'll have to dust down the commandos and paint them up! Could be a lot of British armies I feel

Does anyone know if the v3 rulebook will be laid out any better than v2? ALSO What are the changes?

Check out the wwpd podcast. Has an interview with one of the writers. Nobody's seen it yet so layout is anyone's guess.
