7TV Campaign - Starts June 13

Post by Chilledenuff » Thu Jul 14, 2011 8:44 am

Hello all. As I've mentioned in a couple of places and to a few of you down the club I'm planning to run a 7tv campaign next year. This thread is here so that I can do the following:

1. Sign people up (So reply saying you'd like to take part if you'd like to take part)
2. Suggest/Discuss rules options (happy for others to add thier twopenneth/rip my ideas to shreds etc)
3. Suggest figures that can be used
4. Froth about this awesome rules set
5. Whip up a frenzy of interest (well, possibly :D )
6. Have some terrible spelling (you don't have to do this but I bet I will lots!)

So I'd like to start by saying the campaign will probably use the campaign rules from the 'Summer Special' rules supplement which can be downloaded for free from wargames vault (until Saturday): http://www.wargamevault.com/product_info.php?products_id=93014

You can also download the rules from there (for a financial value) or buy direct from Crooked Dice themselves:

crooked dice homepage
crooked dice shop

Crooked dice also manufacture some lovely miniatures. Some of which you can see in my part of the gallery or if you want to see spangly pictures, look in thier shop. Other manufacturers also produce suitable miniatures. I'll post a list of links in this thread at a suitable opportunity. So expect an update from me later this morning but if you are interested just reply in this thread, or even better if you have any suggestions please feel free to suggest away! :D

I'll play. Does the campaign have a theme that we need to aim our casting towards?

not yet, it may not. I've been reading the campaign rules this morning and it doesn't have to have a theme in the campaign rules. It'd be nice if the cast was themed itself (ie a cop show or an alien race bent on humanity's destruction etc etc) as opposed to I'll take this archetype and this one because together they are uber powerful! Common sense will be required by people playing because we've all seen how this game can be broken if you powergame! (Think my mad scientist with his disintegrator gun and teleport for example)

7tv Summer Special wrote:These extra rules now allow episodes of 7TV to be played as a linked campaign. Your show must strive to achieve a higher TV audience rating than every other show taking part. Your cast can grow (or diminish if you suffer lots of mishaps) and your individual Stars and Co-Stars can improve their abilities with time and experience. These rules will allow episodes to be played with forces of unequal ratings but with a balanced rate of improvement.

A Ratings War is played between two or more players. Ideally a Ratings War should have multiple players, so play suits a club setting or large group of friends with access to a gaming table. The first thing to do when starting a campaign is for each participant to generate a standard 7TV cast to the same ratings value – we suggest 200–250. Casts cannot initially include any Special Guest Stars.

So I'm going to suggest a starting cast of 250 ratings. You don't need to spend the full 250, any unspent ratings become 'Production points' which are used for all kind of funky things between episodes (upgrading stats is the first example that springs to mind)

Also a list of some of the other miniature manufacturers who make miniatures suitable for use in the 7tv setting:

artizan
copplestone castings
Hasslefree
Reaper
wargames foundry
killerb games

Gripping Beast

I'm sure there are others, as they are suggested/I find them then I'll update this list

Of course the main inspiration is TV shows. I'll post an example cast based on a TV show at some point in the near future

More than happy to run demo games (either participation or as a spectacle). i know there are a few of us with the rules now so it should run smoother than the first game (ask Dave R of Geoff just how badly I knew the rules then! ).
