Mr Lee and his IJA forces!

Postby grisnik » Wed May 21, 2014 2:42 pm

Since many others are posting up their progress of their armies, thought I might do the same here.

Now that I am 3 games in with regards to the campaign, and beginning to understand the rules, I think I can focus on the army a lot more. Knowing what is and is not working for my style of play ( to which BANZAI plays heavily in! ).

Here are the infantry units as they stand so far on the shelves of despair ( where all WIPs go, but few come off! ).

As the force was sitting like last Friday.. Quite a few models can be built just from the starter box, and 2 extra infantry boxes.

After a couple good painting sessions last weekend.. I was able to get a few units painted up for last nights game ( thanks for that btw Paul! )...

Image
HQ + Henchmen..

Image
Snipers.. did nothing so far, but will see in future games..

Image
Kamikaze Suicide Anti-Tank members... helps if there were a tank for them to go up against!

Image
The beginnings of the Militia.. the most feared unit for the British...

Image
Regular Infantry..

Image
Grenadiers.. the beginning...

Image
LMGs and Light Mortars...

Only things left now to paint up to get my 800 pts finished area the 3 other Grenadiers, Heavy Mortar Team, MMG Team, Kempatai office, and 5 Militia! Then onwards to see what I need to make full 1000 point forces!

Though am curious what others would use for Japanese Transports since Warlords don't make any atm.. which would be the best to proxy them? Thoughts?

The only truck i can think of is from Here. Expensive though, and I have never ordered from them.

Nice work indeed.

Thanks All.

@Paul.. I looked at the site, but I am put off when looking at their FAQ and how they deal with postage as a whole.

@Les.. bought the oval bases at Salute from a vendor. No idea whom, but was cheap. I think 2 gbp for 16 or 18 of them? Can't remember exactly how many.

Also just received my Pinned markers for future use. Will post up a photo of them once I paint them up a bit to match the IJA forces! Simple 2 piece MDF with magnets to keep them together.

Finally got the first 800 pts finished up and had their first fully painted outings last night against Iain's British.

Man of that match was the Anti-Tank rifle pinning his tank, which then refused to move for the rest of the game :)

And the Bamboo warriors who were shot on, then charged and killed the infiltrators. Go Go bamboo!

Now to get a few more units and men painted up, so that I can field a larger points game! BANZAI!!!

Yeah.. so.. Bank holidays.. no family around.. and spare time to kill... good combination for painting!

Started with this..

Image

Finished with this.. though the camo is not bright enough.. will have to touch that up at some point.. but they are more or less ready for the table at the moment.

Image

Excuse the horrible photos.. yay for cell phone technology!

And then there is the infantry... started with this...

Image

And then ended with this by Monday night late..

Image

160 models, basecoated, drybrushed, washed, and based. Just need to do metals, drybrush the bases, and flock them to call them finished. Now to figure out how to fit them all into an army list to play again Iain
